Do you really want to live a balanced life? It’s actually hard to wake up one day and proclaim that you are leaving the comforts of busyness and moving to balance. NO ONE will understand. They will look at your calendar, they will “watch” you on social media and they will question how it’s possible that you are not busy.
Other’s thoughts and perceptions can increase your fear! So if you really want to take this step and if you really want to thrive you have to have the COURAGE to live a balanced life.
Pause and put the naysayers on mute. You need quiet time to find your balance. You need to find your balance on your own terms. YOU can do this. WE will do this together. Steps to start:
What is your definition of a balanced life? What makes you feel your best? What does success look like for you? How do you want to fill your time?

Now, that you’ve defined what a balanced life would be for YOU, you have to put a plan in place to actually “find your balance.” So what does that mean? How do you find balance? Start with your passions. Are you filling your time with meaningful expierences? Make a list of your passion(s) and commit to placing them 1st on your to do list each and every day.
Next up, you have to maintain this balanced life. Now this is where it gets tricky. You have to create a system, a plan and be confident in what works best for you. There are times in my life that require an increased focus at work. Maybe I am working on a new project and I need to invest additional time to review the information. When I am in that season of my life (more on seasons, in the next section) then it’s not ideal for me to also raise my hand for a leadership role in a community organization. It may also be a time that I have to work a little earlier and later and I’m unable to connect with friends during the workweek.
Living in seasons. There are four seasons in a year and each of them look very different. Why is it that we expect that our lives will always be the same? look the same? feel the same? We have convinced ourselves that the way that we are living right now is the way that we will always live and that modifications aren’t necessary. Well, I’m here to tell you that you will have to adjust, you will have to modify. There’s no reason to wear a coat when it’s 90 degrees outside and you absolutely should not wear a swimsuit when it’s below zero. You have to ADJUST with each and every season and your BALANCE will not always look, feel and be the same.
My 2018 word is COURAGE. Living courageously is centered in making a decision that works best for you and living! Join me and let’s have the courage to find our balance together.
